Do it right, do it once!

Dave’s motto! David doesn’t believe in doing a botch job or half a job. He sees it as a failure if we have to go back to a job to fix something: professional pride is at stake on every project!

“My go-to guy for anything that needs designing and fitting…”

“Dave has been working on my 6 HMO conversion for a few months and has become my go-to guy for anything that requires design and fitting. It was a big project where we had 6 new bathrooms installed, multiple doors and door frames, new walls, walls removed, new kitchen and so on. He works hard, provides great advice and created solutions to any problem. I have received a lot of positive feedback on his ensuites and doors which he has been able to fit in an old Victorian property which is challenging to say the least.  I would highly recommend him to anyone carrying out small or large building works as with Dave you can trust he will do it right to high standard! He is transparent with his prices so you know exactly what you are paying. I really hope to work with him long into the future with new ventures and projects.”

[Jessica – Birmingham, HMO conversion]

Testimonials

"Nothing is ever too much trouble"

I’ve hired Dave on several occasions to do renovations to my house, including remodelling my kitchen and converting an outhouse into a downstairs toilet. He is a genuinely nice bloke whose work is always top quality and nothing is ever too much trouble. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Jo Perks, Birmingham

"The finished product has wowed my friends"

Dave is very skilled and always does a great job. He has fitted kitchens and bathrooms for me amongst other things. His attention to detail and work ethic are second to none – clean, professional and the finished product has wowed my friends. He’s friendly, knowledgeable, and I highly recommend him.

Maggie Henshaw, Fareham

"I must say I am really happy"

Dave came over to quote some render repairs to my bay window. He offered a number of solutions from a straight repair, to all new cladding to the entire bay. Comparing the quotes, Dave’s quote for cladding was less than another quote I received for a straight render repair, so I went for the superior cladding and I must say I am really happy I did. It looks great and render repairs/painting are a thing of the past.

About David Hill

Dave’s father was a general builder for 50 years and this is where Dave cut his teeth so to speak.

Since then Dave has worked as both a building site manager for some of the country’s largest housebuilders and as a multi-skilled tradesperson in his own right.

This gives him a valuable perspective on building projects, both new-builds and refurbishments of existing properties, and more than 25 years’ hands-on experience under his toolbelt.

Frequently Asked Questions

Invisible
What kind of information do you need to quote/ undertake my project?

We will assess your project via a visual inspection and a detailed chat with you.

It is useful for us to understand how you intend to use the space when it’s completed, and what your aspirations are in terms of finished look and style. This way we can make sure we are working to get the exact result you need and want. And we may have ideas – both practical and creative – that you hadn’t previously considered.

For larger projects, please provide any drawings to us at the earliest opportunity.

Do you offer a free quote?

Yes – we will come out to your property and give you a ballpark figure in the first instance based on a visual inspection and a detailed chat with you.

For large jobs, we will provide a fully itemised written quote upon confirmation from you that you would like us to proceed.

Smaller jobs will be quoted based on materials and a day rate.

What details will the quote include?

Both a ballpark indication in the early stages of our quote to you, and a fully itemised written quote will be based on materials, labour and any other associated costs for your project.

If the scope of the job changes part way through the project, we will revise our quote accordingly and agree a new quote with you at the earliest opportunity.

How long are quotes valid for?

All quotes – both initial verbal quotes, and formal written quotes – are valid for 90 days.

What are the payment terms?

This depends on the size of the job.

If the work is completed on the day, payment is due on completion that day either in cash or by bank transfer.

For larger projects, we agree with you a deposit at the start to cover initial labour and materials and then staged payments throughout the course of the project. A final balance payment will be payable upon completion.

How long till you can start work?

We will let you know at the time of providing a quote to you the likely timescales for starting and completing your project. Start dates will be dependent on what other work is scheduled for us at the time.

The team can however often fit smaller jobs in around other larger projects.

Who manages the project?

The project will be managed directly by business owner David Hill. This includes any additional trades brought in to complete your project. (Find out more about David here.)

Can you help us with our planning application and building control inspection?

We can offer advice on both of these. However, we can’t fill in a planning application for you.

We will however liaise with Building Control and any other bodies for stage inspections on your behalf once all applications have been submitted and approved.

Do you outsource any of the work, and if so, how does that work?

We outsource to registered electricians and gas fitters as required. We know them, we know their work and we trust them. The cost for their services will be included in our quote and we will oversee and manage their work on your behalf. You only need to deal practically with one company which is us, although the certification will be provided by them.

We also bring in trusted partners for brick and block work, and for painting and decorating. Again, we manage and take responsibility for their work and their cost is already included in your quote.

Do you source the materials for the project?

We source all of the basic materials and their cost is included in the quote.

For finishing materials such as bathroom suites, taps, tiles and kitchens etc we can source them but we expect you to pick a style you like.

For kitchens, we prefer to source these for you after providing a full design service in conjunction with the kitchen supplier.

However, if you want to provide your own materials, please let us know when we provide a quote for you.

Are you Gas Safe, NICEIC/ELECSA registered?

All gas fitting and electrics are undertaken by fully qualified and registered electricians and gas engineers, who will provide you with the necessary certifications.

What guarantee do you offer?

We work on a “do it right, do it once” basis of course so it’s rare we get called back.

But if anything does happen, that isn’t caused by the client or a third party, we guarantee our work for 12 months from the date of signing off with you and will come and put things right.

Let’s talk about your project.
